Se conocieron en una fiesta aristocrática en noviembre de 1970 cuando él tenía 22 y ella 21 años. “¿Sabías que te pareces a Elizabeth Taylor?”, le dijo la primera vez que la vio. “Maurizio estaba loco por ella desde el principio. Tras convertirse legalmente en una Gucci, Patrizia tiene dos hijas, Allegra y Alessandra, y empieza a participar en el emporio familiar. A pesar de haber conseguido el divorcio y más de mil millones de liras al año, Patrizia Reggiani no queda contenta y sigue teniendo rencor. El 27 de marzo de 1995 Maurizio Gucci es asesinado por un sicario en la entrada de su oficina. Luego de dos años de investigación, se descubre (aunque el mundo ya lo sospechaba) que fue Patrizia quien encargó el asesinato de su exmarido con su amiga Pina Auriemma como cómplice. La “viuda negra”, como la nombró la prensa italiana de la época, fue sentenciada a 26 años de prisión, que se redujeron a 17 años por buena conducta. Salió libre en 2016.
